Last August CN Glass moved from two small factory workshops in Chipping Norton and Banbury into a single and much larger refurbished premises providing us with the opportunity to expand and improve our complete glass and glazing services to customers both domestic and commercial. In doing so we commenced on a significant journey of investment into new production machinery to take the manufacturing of insulated glass units to the next level.
We took delivery of an automated glass cutting bench and a semi-automatic unit assembly line last year and in the spring of 2015 we have added our own Glass Toughening Plant. This will enable us to reduce lead times and improve quality as well as providing us with seamless continuous production without downtime. Considerable investment into IT programming for glass production has also been made to optimise glass cutting and batch orders together for a substantial increase in daily unit production.
In response to the sustained growth in all areas of the business we now employ nearly 50 staff and we are fully geared up with the machinery, systems and people to deliver the best possible products and customer service.
Trevor Mouat, Managing Director comments “The move to Norton House and the installation of the new machinery has presented us with many challenges to overcome and we have been on a real roller coaster ride so far but it has also been very exciting and rewarding and now with our Glass Toughening Plant just about to start producing our own safety glass the Company is about to be propelled forward again in terms of growth”
Our new Glass Toughening Plant is currently being assembled and will be ready to produce toughened glass May / June 2015.

An unusual glazing job recently completed. The customer had an old outhouse converted to provide a new bathroom. During the excavation of the floor area the builder found a well of about 30ft deep and in good condition, so the customer decided to make a feature of it.
We laminated several layers of glass to form a very strong glass well top of 36mm thick so that it could be stood on whilst taking a shower. A manhole frame was built into the new floor to take the glass.
We also installed two shower screens above the well top one fitted halfway across the well top on a hinge system and the other was sandblasted with a sliding rail system, this worked really well because it was close to the W/C and allowed for privacy while using the shower room.
CN Glass have completed work on a bespoke PVCu conservatory design:
The conservatory has 2 sets of bi-folding doors opening onto the pool and then a rounded bay to the right side where it goes down the side of the house to form a P shape.
We recently supplied and installed the Aluminium windows and doors and an Aluminium roof lantern in the kitchen area of this stunning build by Stonehall Construction.
The large door is a Visoglide sliding door (by Smart Aluminium) with a fixed curved glazed section to the form the corner into the inset entrance door. All of the glass is double glazed using Toughened Planitherm soft coat Low E Glass with warm edge spacer bar and are argon gas filled, including the curved glass. The Aluminium frames are powder coated in RAL Colour 7037 Matt paint.

Inagas has been working with CN Glass – the longstanding family-run manufacturer of IGU’s based in the Cotswolds – supplying a gas filling and testing machinery package to enhance their production.
With over 40 years in the business and enjoying growth throughout, Trevor Mouat, MD of CN Glass Ltd explains ‘’Gas filling is not a new process for us as we have been doing it for a few years now but, having seen the performance of the new Smartfill range of machinery from Inagas, we decided to invest in new equipment. Previously, we would experience bottlenecks at the gas filling stage in our production as our old machinery wasn’t capable of keeping up.
The introduction of the Smartfill-1 has completely overcome that problem – it is much quicker and a lot more efficient. As part of the package we also invested in an IGA 10, solely for the gas filling of our warm edge Super Spacer Heritage units, as well as a portable hot melt gun. Finally, we depend on the handheld testing equipment – The TestOxy – to ensure we satisfy the requirements of EN1279. It is easy to use, effective and reliable, which is what we depend on to maintain compliance’’.
